Tholu Bommalata

Tholu Bommalata is the ancient tradition of shadow puppet theatre from the state of Andhra Pradesh, in India. Puppets are traditionally handmade from leather and depict characters – mostly epic heroes – from Indian mythology. The artisans were traditionally wandering bards who travelled the entire countryside, singing songs and performing puppetry with these craft items made from goatskin (stories were based on the ancient Indian epics (Ramayana and Mahabharata). At InduDiva, we have re-imagined these puppets into wearable accessories.
